The MSc in Epidemiology program aims to establish a shared methodological framework for conducting research across various health-related fields involving human populations. Epidemiology encompasses a wide array of topics and approaches.
Students explore different research methodologies, biostatistics, program assessment, health economics, survey design, and the utilization of administrative data, depending on their specialization.
Queen's University excels in cancer, injury, obesity, disability, and mental health epidemiology, along with health services research in public health, primary care, cancer treatment, and critical care. Emerging areas of expertise include Northern health, Indigenous health, and global health studies. Through coursework and independent research, students develop skills in scientific communication, disease trend analysis, literature evaluation, research design, data collection and interpretation, study execution, and thesis preparation and defense.
The full-time MSc in Epidemiology program spans 24 consecutive months. Working professionals may pursue part-time study options while maintaining employment. For part-time inquiries, please contact the MSc in Epidemiology Graduate Assistant.
Students must have 4-year undergraduate degree with an overall average of 75%. All students must also have sound math skills. See the Department’s website for a self-assessment of essential mathematics background.

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
Computer-Based Test: A minimum score of 250 and a minimum Essay Rating score of 5.0
Paper-Based Test: A minimum score of 600 and a Test of Written English (TWE) with a minimum score of 5.0
Internet-based test: A minimum score of 100 and a minimum score of 4 for writing
IELTS - English for International Opportunity - A minimum score of 7
MELAB - Michigan English Language Assessment Battery - A minimum score of 90
PTE - Pearson Test of English Academic - A minimum score of 70
