Our updated curriculum emphasizes collaborative learning and cross-disciplinary courses. Learners can tailor their studies to align with their passions while preparing for professional practice in just five terms. Gain hands-on experience applying public health principles, techniques, and theories in Canadian or international settings. This intensive, work-integrated practicum spans one academic term, typically during the summer of your first year, at an approved organization. The 13-week placement includes 11 weeks of on-site experience.
The MPH capstone features a realistic, multifaceted case study requiring students to:
identify and analyze affected populations and key concerns;
utilize existing data to comprehend the situation;
select suitable analytical frameworks for data interpretation; and
develop comprehensive recommendations to effectively address the challenge.

Qualification Requirements
Admission to the MPH requires a competitive GPA, strong references, a good statement of intent, and clear evidence of both interest and involvement in public health. You do not need to have a confirmed senior supervisor before you apply to the MPH program.
We gauge interest and involvement based on your academic history, involvement in activities with a health focus, such as working with an NGO, studying/working/volunteering in a developing country, working for an international agencyparticularly with a health focusor volunteering with an organization in Canada that involves public health issues.
Other influencing factors include the quality and quantity of applications received and available seats. If you are a health practitioner or professional with substantial experience in health or a related field, we may also consider your career accomplishments.

Complete baccalaureate degree:
Must be the equivalent of SFU's 4-year bachelor's degree in any field, with a minimum of 3.33 (B+) based on the last 60 credits of undergraduate coursework when you apply. We will also consider graduate coursework. Your degree can be in progress when you apply but all courses must be complete before the MPH program begins.
IELTS - Overall band score of 7.0 of the academic (NOT general) test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section. TOEFL IBT - 93, with a minimum score of 20 in each category. For the paper-based TOEFL test, the University normally requires a score of 580, with TWE 5. Pearson Academic (PTE) - Overall 65 minimum 60 in all of their sections.
