The two-year Master's in Public and International Affairs equips Canada's next generation of leaders to tackle contemporary global issues. This program stands out through three key aspects. First, it's fully bilingual, mandating students to complete one-third of their coursework and assignments in Canada's second official language. Second, it blends academic theory with hands-on experience. The faculty includes both scholars and professionals, teaching students to craft policy briefs and memoranda for high-level government officials.
Participants complete a paid, guided internship with government agencies, international bodies, or NGOs. Those aiming for academic careers can undertake a substantial research project during their final year. Third, the program takes an interdisciplinary approach: coursework introduces various methodological perspectives and skill sets. The second-year Capstone Seminar synthesizes these diverse competencies in an interactive academic setting.
True to its title, the MPIA emphasizes global engagement. Second-year students can participate in an international exchange or pursue a dual degree with France's Université de Strasbourg. Our graduates consistently secure rewarding positions in federal/provincial governments, international institutions, and local organizations.
