Ongomiizwin – the Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing
Community Health Sciences collaborates closely with Ongomiizwin – the Indigenous Institute of Health and Healing. This partnership helps integrate Indigenous health perspectives into both undergraduate and graduate curricula.
In 1987, the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine (SPM) joined forces with the Division of Community and Northern Medicine (CNM) to establish the Department of Community Health Sciences. This merger combined their strengths, resulting in a dynamic department recognized nationally for outstanding education, research, and community service.
Community Health Sciences is committed to generating, preserving, and sharing knowledge about population health to improve the physical, mental, cultural, social, and economic welfare of communities in Manitoba, across Canada, and worldwide.
