Geology is an observational science that integrates principles from physics, chemistry, biology, and other disciplines to investigate Earth's composition, geological processes, and planetary evolution. As a program participant, you will: Analyze rock formations, mineral specimens, and sedimentary deposits, Investigate environmental risks, Discover the fundamental components of celestial bodies in our solar system, And gain extensive knowledge about our planet's 4.5-billion-year timeline.
Situated within the Canadian Shield, our campus serves as both a natural laboratory and learning space. Faculty frequently conduct outdoor classes and arrange field excursions, including intensive field schools, leveraging this exceptional setting to provide hands-on experience that employers value immediately. Our department maintains partnerships with industry leaders, government agencies, and academic institutions, conducting research that spans theoretical to practical applications. The curriculum is structured to fulfill the academic requirements for APGO Professional Geologist certification, mandatory for geological practice in Ontario.
