Explore planet Earth: its composition, the processes shaping its materials, and the beginnings and development of life. Our Geology program is accredited by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) and features multiple field placements, providing valuable practical experience to complement classroom learning. The Bachelor of Science with Honors offers focused education in a specialized field for students interested in scientific research. Each program includes a research thesis component and requires higher academic performance compared to a standard BSc Major degree. Students may choose a minor from the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, though this will limit elective course options. The Honors program does not permit double majors.

The University of Alberta's Faculty of Science offers 65 exceptional degree programs across 30 disciplines, examining the scientific principles behind everyday phenomena. As one of Canada's most extensive science faculties, we provide cutting-edge educational resources, undergraduate research opportunities, and instruction from renowned researchers in their fields—all within a single faculty.
