A YSU Department of Art degree equips you with the resources to craft your path as a successful visual artist, designer, arts leader, creative strategist, animation specialist, museum professional, and numerous other creative careers. Our department provides degree programs across multiple disciplines including ceramics, digital arts, graphic and interactive design, painting, photography, print media, and three-dimensional art. Additionally, we offer six specialized minors. Students benefit from personalized guidance while exploring diverse artistic approaches. You'll encounter varied methods, creative processes, and hands-on learning, study under visiting master artists, and have access to numerous educational experiences. Within the YSU Department of Art, you'll join a supportive network of instructors and peers committed to fostering your artistic development, academic achievement, and career advancement.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.
