The Master of Arts in African Studies is a two-year interdisciplinary program combining humanities and social sciences to offer comprehensive knowledge about African affairs. This program caters to both students aiming for doctoral studies and those pursuing a terminal M.A. before careers in business, media, government, or professional schools. Recognizing varying academic backgrounds, each student collaborates with the Director of Graduate Studies to tailor a program aligned with their goals. African Studies explores diverse aspects including arts, history, cultures, languages, literature, politics, religions, and societies, alongside development, health, and environmental topics. The curriculum allows significant flexibility, enabling students to enroll in African studies courses across the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and professional schools. The program also features two interdisciplinary seminars to foster cross-disciplinary discussions and integration.
