The Early Mediterranean and West Asian Religions (EMWAR) program offers an interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to gain specialized research and teaching skills in classical disciplines like Second Temple Judaism, Hellenistic Judaism, New Testament studies, Ancient Christianity, and Rabbinic Judaism. Alternatively, students can focus on interdisciplinary specializations such as Ancient Scriptural Interpretation, Sasanian and Early Islamic West Asian Religions, or Hellenistic Eastern Christianity and Judaism. This adaptable curriculum supports historical, textual, and comparative analysis of religious writings, traditions, artifacts, and cultural developments across the Mediterranean and West Asia, spanning from the Hellenistic era (3rd century BCE) to early Islam (10th century CE). Additionally, the Language Concentration Track (LCT) provides opportunities for advanced philological and linguistic training.
