The Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B) shares a collective belief that biological processes become comprehensible only when their molecular, chemical, kinetic, and thermodynamic mechanisms are fully revealed. Our faculty and students bond over a mutual passion for biochemistry, physical chemistry, structural biology, computational approaches, spectroscopy, macromolecular engineering, imaging techniques, and disease mechanisms at the molecular level. Approximately 75% of our alumni pursue advanced degrees in PhD, MD, or MD/PhD programs. Some graduates have entered careers in biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions, and management consulting. Additional paths include law or business school enrollment, humanities doctoral programs, public service roles, secondary education positions, or officer commissions in the U.S. military.
