The Accelerated Graduate Degree Program (AGDP) enables current WMU undergraduate students to begin their graduate-level history education early. Students can apply up to twelve credits of their undergraduate history courses toward graduate requirements. The History Department offers two AGDP options: one for the traditional M.A. and another for the Public History M.A. The following information generally pertains to both programs.
Eligibility requires senior standing with at least 30 completed credit hours at WMU and an official History major declaration. AGDP participants must maintain graduate-level performance in their advanced courses. This program is not available to students who have already completed their bachelor's degrees or those seeking to apply previous coursework toward the master's degree retroactively.
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and minimum 3.5 in History (based on 30 credit hours earned at WMU and at least 20 credit hours in a declared major in History).
Minimum English proficiency test scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54
Michigan English Test (MET): 57
