The history and social studies education program equips you for the Illinois Professional Educator's License in Secondary Education with a history/social studies specialization.
Field experiences begin in your freshman year, with additional opportunities during sophomore and junior years leading to student teaching in your final year. Throughout this journey, Bradley faculty and supervising teachers provide essential mentorship. You'll also collaborate with the history department to develop expertise in global studies, social science methodologies, economic systems, political structures, and societal dynamics.
Our teacher education program holds accreditation from both the Illinois State Board of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, along with membership in the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. The secondary education curriculum has earned national recognition from leading organizations including the National Council for the Social Studies, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Science Teachers Association, and National Council of Teachers of English.
