Nestled in Detroit's dynamic Midtown district, Wayne State University's Department of Nutrition and Food Science provides a master's program in dietetics that culminates in the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification. Our Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) stands as one of Michigan's three ACEND-accredited coordinated programs. Since its establishment in 1980, the Wayne State CPD has maintained continuous accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
This prestigious two-year CPD program merges advanced graduate coursework with 1,032 hours of hands-on supervised training. Students gain cutting-edge, evidence-based nutrition knowledge while enhancing their analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Our distinguished faculty bring extensive knowledge across diverse nutrition specialties, and our partnerships with leading Detroit-area healthcare institutions offer valuable learning experiences with seasoned nutrition experts.
Graduates intending to stay in the Detroit metro area often secure positions at the same facilities where they completed their clinical rotations. More than 80% of our alumni land nutrition-related jobs within three months of completing the program. Career opportunities for dietitians span numerous rewarding fields, including healthcare settings, academic research, private practice, community programs, educational institutions, retail nutrition, and beyond.
