Through extensive research, we've learned that dietary choices significantly influence the health and wellness of both people and animals. Nutritional science combines knowledge from diverse fields: biochemistry, physiology, psychology, food science, genetics, and cellular biology form the foundation of our nutritional understanding and practices. The Interdepartmental Nutrition Graduate Program (INP) offers cross-disciplinary education for those pursuing nutrition science studies. With faculty from multiple departments, students gain access to broad expertise and diverse learning experiences. Applicants to INP must apply through the Purdue West Lafayette (PWL) - Nutrition Science graduate program, where accepted candidates work with INP faculty advisors to obtain either a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree. The program teaches multiple methodologies to tackle critical nutrition challenges. During the application process, candidates specify their focus area by choosing from these Training Groups: Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition, Human and Clinical Nutrition, Animal Health, Growth and Development, or Population Nutrition and Health Promotion.
