The basic medical sciences major provides all the scientific foundation required for admission to medical school or other health professions programs, while allowing students the freedom to explore personal academic interests and participate in study abroad opportunities. This program is ideal for pre-health students with varied academic passions. Participants collaborate closely with advisors to create a structured curriculum that meets professional school prerequisites. The major features a specialized pre-medicine track and offers two distinct study paths. Both options satisfy the science prerequisites for medical school and other health profession programs: Plan A focuses mainly on biological sciences with supplementary chemistry studies, while Plan B delivers comprehensive life sciences education, catering to students interested in deeper exploration of subjects such as anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, nutrition, immunology, virology, epidemiology, parasitology, or genetics.
