The Medical Humanities program enhances students' comprehension of illness, health, wellness, healing, and medical practices through three interconnected course clusters. This interdisciplinary major offers flexibility, aligning with student aspirations and the evolving nature of the discipline.
Medical Humanities bridges diverse viewpoints to examine relationships among individuals, cultures, and healthcare fields. This area of study enriches Health Sciences by incorporating perspectives from Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts. Key themes include: wellness and disease, intersections between healthcare and identity (including gender and community), cross-cultural healing traditions and ethics, the experience of suffering, and wellness frameworks. The minor benefits pre-medical students and those pursuing nursing, social work, psychology, public health, HR, or other healthcare professions. Just as individuals transcend medical labels, we extend beyond traditional academics. Become part of our dynamic network of learners, teachers, professionals, creatives, and community collaborators.
