The Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology research cluster brings together faculty and students focused on exploring biological processes at molecular and cellular scales. Our laboratories employ diverse model organisms spanning bacteria, plants, fungi, and animal systems, providing graduate students with extensive options for thesis projects.
Faculty in our cell and molecular specialization prioritize small-group, experiential learning. Graduate seminar classes maintain intimate sizes, often with under 10 participants.
A key interdisciplinary research focus linking Biology with other WFU programs is Molecular Signaling. With faculty offering coursework in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cellular physiology, students can tailor their academic path. Further specialized courses are accessible through our partnership with Wake Forest's medical school. Students may also opt for an interdisciplinary concentration in Structural and Computational Biophysics.
