The ECE Department provides both M.S. Thesis and M.S. Non-Thesis degree options. For the M.S. Thesis track, students collaborate with their faculty advisors to design a study plan that meets degree requirements, culminating in a thesis defense. The M.S. Non-Thesis option focuses on coursework. The M.Eng. is a professional degree that combines rigorous academic training in core ECE disciplines with hands-on, project-based learning.
The Ph.D. represents the university's most advanced academic achievement, granted to students who exhibit exceptional original research capabilities. This degree demonstrates a candidate's ability to perform autonomous research while maintaining broad foundational knowledge and deep specialization in one discipline. Ph.D. applicants generally hold a master's degree in EE, CPE, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
