This program caters to students passionate about exploring the dynamic interplay between religion and the arts. Key study areas encompass theological aesthetics, how art supports the social objectives of faith communities, religious influences in literature, and art's transformative power in personal spirituality, worship practices, and community identity. The curriculum regularly features practical writing courses (including creative writing, nonfiction, and songwriting) as essential elements.
Learning Objectives:
Students will cultivate creative expression through either: A) Transforming theological ideas into visual, auditory, kinetic, or literary forms, or B) Applying artistic perspectives to academic work, sermons, worship planning, and other forms of theological discourse.
Students will integrate their artistic explorations with other aspects of their theological studies.
Students will develop a deeper understanding of religion-art connections and effectively communicate their interrelated nature.
