The American Studies M.A. is an interdisciplinary degree focused on professional growth within a supportive academic environment. It leverages students' research passions, achievements, backgrounds, and career aspirations while engaging with American cultural frameworks both historical and contemporary. Graduates often advance into specialized fields like law, education, writing, or library science, continue toward PhDs in American Studies or related disciplines (including ethnic studies, literature, history, and more), or enter public sector roles at museums, heritage sites, and nonprofit organizations.
This two-year full-time program concludes with either a Plan A Thesis or Plan B portfolio project. We accommodate part-time students balancing other commitments and actively support creative, forward-thinking project formats that align with students' professional trajectories in American studies.
