Boston University pioneered the nation's first graduate program in African American Studies. Students learn to blend academic theory with real-world application, preparing them for diverse career paths. As a selective, intimate program with a strong reputation and expanding influence, we prioritize personalized guidance and close collaboration with our distinguished faculty.
The MA curriculum develops analytical and research capabilities, empowering students to continuously examine intercultural dynamics throughout their careers. While centered on African American history and culture, our program explores these themes within worldwide frameworks and their connections to Latino, Asian, European American, African, and Native American communities.
