The Psychology Department provides two advanced degree options: a Doctorate in Psychology (PhD) and a Master of Science in Psychology (MS). Students can specialize in various focus areas, known as programs. The health psychology master's program, designed as a terminal degree, equips students with research skills and theoretical knowledge covering health promotion, stress management, patient care approaches, chronic disease management, and the origins/impacts of health conditions including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and musculoskeletal conditions.
This curriculum prepares students for research-oriented roles in healthcare environments and serves as excellent preparation for those pursuing doctoral studies in psychology or allied disciplines. Ongoing research explores health inequities, gender-specific health issues, gerontology, health literacy, patient empowerment, stress physiology, risk assessment, integrative therapies, and childhood health challenges including pain management.
