The Early Adolescence-Adolescence (EAA) Special Education program awards a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Education. Graduates who meet all licensing criteria can apply for Wisconsin's Cross-Categorical Special Education Teaching License, valid for teaching students aged 10-21 (grades 6-12). Those with existing bachelor's degrees may pursue EAA Special Education Teacher Certification through our Post-Baccalaureate pathway.

Qualification Requirements

All applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency in one of the following ways:
An approved test score that meets the requirement for regular or conditional admission.
University study: Completion of at least 18 months of full-time, for-credit academic study (approximately three semesters) at a recognized or accredited institution of higher education whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM.
Secondary/high school study: Proof of completion of the last two years of secondary/high school at an institution whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM. TOEFL IBT - 79 or higher, TOEFL PBT - 548 or higher, IELTS - 6.5
