To earn the degree, students must complete 30 credits, with at least 24 coming from graded courses. This includes taking either PLAD 7090 (Research Methods in Political Science) or PLPT 5010 (The Nature of Political Inquiry).
Language proficiency must be shown by passing a university-administered test, an oral exam evaluated by a department-approved examiner, or earning at least a B in a 2020-level language course. International students may use their native language if it's not English. As another option, students can prove quantitative skills by completing PLAD 7100 (Political Research with Quantitative Methods).
