The University of Tulsa's Education Department focuses on developing skilled educators who excel as analytical thinkers, dedicated learners, active community participants, and responsible citizens.
Our department embodies cutting-edge educational research and practical applications in modern teaching. Topics like racial diversity, gender equality, economic disparities, fairness, multilingualism, and societal justice permeate all learning environments, regardless of location or school type. These fundamental concepts shape both our educational philosophy and the framework for student learning paths.
Aspiring educators can select from various major options including mathematics, English, French, German, Spanish, history, political science, music, and elementary education. Approval for science and art education programs is currently underway at the state level.
Our program combines arts and sciences fundamentals with specialized Education coursework, hands-on field training, and subject-specific concentrations that utilize knowledge from faculty across campus disciplines. This comprehensive approach prepares graduates for Oklahoma teaching certification.
