The College of Engineering offers eligible students the chance to enroll in a five-year combined bachelor's and master of science degree program. This program enables qualified engineering students to begin graduate-level research or design work in their fourth year of undergraduate studies. In this senior year, students can designate specific courses for graduate credit, engage in a nine-month research project, and potentially secure employment as teaching or research assistants with corresponding compensation. Students can fulfill the requirements for both degrees within five academic years.

Qualification Requirements

Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts in a language other than English must be translated before being submitted to the university. Copies or faxes are considered unofficial and will not satisfy this admission requirement. All international students must submit entrance exam scores. Take one of the following exams and request your scores to be sent directly to UTEP from the testing center: SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP’s institutional paper based exam or a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT) UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.
