Through collaboration with the School of Social Work, students can work toward a dual degree program that equips them for careers in social welfare policy and human services administration. This program blends social work expertise with public administration skills, creating an ideal foundation for those aiming for professional roles in human services leadership, policy creation and assessment, program design and execution, and outcome evaluation.
Graduates of the MSSW/MPAff dual degree program will gain specialized skills to develop and oversee efficient, client-centered service systems while building careers in social policy research. The curriculum allows students to complete both master's degrees concurrently in about three years, with diplomas granted upon fulfilling all requirements in both disciplines.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
