The MSW/Master of Bioethics (MBE) is a joint degree initiative offered collaboratively by Penn's School of Social Policy & Practice and the Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy. This interdisciplinary program equips graduates to take leading roles in bioethics-focused research, policy development, and program implementation across social services, biomedical fields, and healthcare. By combining the shared principles of social work and medical ethics, the program fosters equitable service delivery, ethical policy formulation, and fair decision-making in our rapidly evolving technological and social landscape.
Applicant must have obtained a bachelor's degree from an accredited School or University prior to intended matriculation date.
For international students whose first language is not English, we require official TOEFL or IELTS scores taken in the last two years. A minimum of 100 on the Internet-based (iBT) TOEFL or a minimum Overall Band Score of 7.5 on the IELTS is required.
