The Master of Social Work (MSW) program offers an advanced generalist curriculum focused on serving rural and Indigenous populations. Students learn to cultivate a professional, empathetic approach grounded in ethical care principles.
The MSW Program aims to:
1. Equip graduates for social work practice that addresses the unique needs and assets of rural regions and Indigenous populations.
2. Examine social issues through interconnected local, historical, and global lenses.
This program trains students in advanced generalist methods that employ comprehensive, multi-level strategies. Practitioners and clients collaborate to strengthen systems by leveraging existing resources and building resilience.
Students establish a practice framework rooted in ethical values. Core concepts including cultural humility, empowerment, collaborative relationships, critical analysis, and advocacy for social justice form the basis for developing professional social work skills at Cal Poly Humboldt.
