The LBJ School and Center for Asian Studies (ANS) provide a three-year dual degree program that merges comprehensive globalization studies with specialized knowledge of Asian political systems, economies, and cultural contexts (with concentrations available in either East or South Asia). This innovative program addresses growing demands in government and business sectors for professionals skilled in both policy analysis and regional expertise.
The curriculum equips graduates to navigate complex governance issues in our rapidly evolving world, where emerging international dynamics are reshaping conventional approaches to public administration. Participants blend their exploration of Asian languages, traditions, historical developments, and economic systems with examination of transnational concerns - including environmental policy, international water rights, global trade negotiations, regional economic partnerships, geopolitical shifts caused by emerging powers, and the impact of ideological movements and migration patterns on political transformation.
Participants can complete both degree requirements in about three years, receiving their credentials upon fulfilling all academic obligations for both programs.
