The Bilingual/Bicultural Education (BBE) program equips students with specialized knowledge to emerge as leaders in this increasingly vital field. BBE participants cultivate an analytical approach that empowers them to champion the needs of bilingual teachers, school leaders, young learners, and families within and beyond K-12 education. Through collaboration with professors, graduate students build expertise in both theoretical research and practical applications across key areas: language policy and bilingual program design, second language learning, dual-language literacy, best practices for bilingual and ESL teaching, educator training for bilingual programs, and immigration-related educational theories. Our dynamic undergraduate Bilingual Teacher Certification track also provides rich hands-on experiences where students apply research and theoretical concepts in real classroom settings.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
Application deadline: December 01 for fall
