The recently established Ph.D. in Statistics program aims to set the standard for advanced statistical education. Through its contemporary curriculum, students engage with state-of-the-art statistical techniques while collaborating with diverse faculty to explore specialized areas, develop interdisciplinary teamwork abilities, and hone research capabilities via customizable elective courses. Our alumni emerge ready to assume leadership roles in statistical and machine learning fields across academic and corporate sectors.
Typically spanning five years of full-time study, the Statistics Ph.D. program ensures financial assistance for all enrolled students throughout this period, though exceptional candidates may complete their requirements in four years.
To be eligible for admission into the PhD Statistics program, an applicant must demonstrate each of the following:
i) an earned master's degree in Applied Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Biostatistics, or an equivalent to any of these from an accredited college or university; OR
ii) an earned bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a course of study that satisfactorily covers many of the key subjects in these degrees from an accredited college or university.
A GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or comparable grade point average in upper-division work and any graduate work already completed (3.4 or higher is recommended)
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
