The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy maintains established, comprehensive graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences and translational sciences. Graduate studies at UT Austin's College of Pharmacy aim to cultivate both broad intellectual understanding and specialized expertise for careers in academia, research, or advanced professional practice. The program focuses on developing the competencies required for effective teaching, innovative research, analytical problem-solving, academic leadership, creative work, and professional distinction. We are dedicated to addressing inequalities, promoting awareness, and creating an inclusive environment where all participants have equitable access to opportunities within our graduate program.
Pharmaceutical Science integrates multiple disciplines, encompassing chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacotherapy, and health outcomes research. Applicants to the pharmaceutical sciences graduate program choose a specialized track aligned with their academic interests. The College of Pharmacy provides a Ph.D. program with concentrations in these pharmaceutical science fields, along with a more focused M.S. degree program available only for pharmacotherapy and health outcomes research.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
