The Law School and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies provide a combined degree initiative that awards two graduate qualifications: the Juris Doctor (JD) and the Master of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (MAREEES). This integrated program is tailored for individuals seeking to explore legal studies alongside Russian, East European, and Eurasian topics through an interdisciplinary approach. Those anticipating careers in government or legal professions with an Eastern European specialization would find this program advantageous. Candidates accepted into the dual degree must commence studies during the Fall Semester at the Law School, completing first-year coursework before engaging in any dual degree-related classes. The two degrees are conferred together once all program requirements are fulfilled, so participants should plan their coursework to complete both degree criteria in the same term.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
