The department's Master of Arts in East Asian Studies offers its most adaptable graduate program, enabling students to tailor their academic path (with guidance from their advisor). EAS MA candidates might concentrate on intensive study of a specific East Asian nation or language, while others could pursue broader regional knowledge. Some may specialize in fields like history, literature, political science, or linguistics, whereas others might leverage EALC's multidisciplinary faculty to examine a country or the wider East Asian area through various academic lenses. This flexibility in our MA program leads graduates into diverse professional paths such as government, business, non-profits, legal fields, media, library sciences, or advanced academic pursuits like doctoral studies, among numerous other opportunities.
