Nutrition is a comprehensive field of study focused on enhancing health and wellness for both individuals and communities. This discipline explores not just the fundamental biological elements like electrons, atoms, molecules, genes, cells, and organs, but also examines the connections between life sciences and broader factors such as health outcomes, behavior, education, demographics, culture, and economics. At UT, nutrition students gain hands-on experience through classroom learning, research projects, and practical engagements. Their studies cover areas like dietary intake and metabolism, how nutrients influence gene activity, school-based gardening and nutrition programs, human growth patterns, and family health dynamics. Opportunities extend beyond campus, with students participating in international programs, securing internships in clinical settings, contributing to community initiatives, and joining research teams. Career paths for graduates are diverse, spanning research, pharmaceuticals, food production, healthcare services, and educational roles.
: Tailored for those pursuing healthcare or nutrition counseling careers, this degree path blends foundational nutritional science with specialized courses in practical nutrition and food system management. It meets the academic requirements for becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). This is Nutrition, option 1.
