The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Health provides in-depth education in public health nutrition, program development, health promotion, and preventive care. This growing field equips graduates for careers with health agencies, educational institutions, community groups, nonprofit organizations, food companies, or for pursuing graduate studies. Preparing HCAP students for professional success is fundamental to our mission. The HCAP program features an internship specialist who partners with organizations to arrange practical experiences and career guidance. HCAP students have collectively completed more than 140,000 internship hours. The curriculum incorporates hands-on learning through undergraduate research projects, internships, and fieldwork. The HCAP Student Success Center further enhances career readiness with professional growth and leadership training beyond traditional coursework.
This 120-credit Bachelor of Science program readies students for beginning roles in public health nutrition across various settings including government health agencies, schools, community programs, nonprofits, and food corporations. The degree also serves as excellent preparation for medical school prerequisites or advanced studies in nutrition, public health, allied health fields, and biomedical sciences. This specialization emphasizes enhancing nutritional health for women during reproductive years, babies, children, and teenagers. The program also delivers specialized training for becoming a certified Lactation Consultant. Students will critically analyze how public institutions and local communities can enhance health services and develop effective policy initiatives.
