The College of Education provides four specialized majors under the Bachelor of Science in Education program. Students benefit from equity-focused curriculum, receiving mentorship from experienced faculty and professionals to develop skills for leadership, teaching, and administration across educational and community settings. Those selecting majors with teacher preparation components can pursue certification for all grade levels. The Early Childhood to 6th Grade Generalist ESL Certificate Program (ESL GEN) prepares students for Texas elementary teaching certification while earning their B.S. in Education.
As an Early Childhood to Sixth Grade ESL Generalist student, you'll complete 18 credit hours covering topics like cultural diversity, multilingual learning environments, child development theories, play-based motivation, physical education strategies, and social justice principles in education.
