The English Program aims to teach undergraduate students how to analyze and interpret English literature and literary criticism, develop critical reading and research skills, and master writing and rhetoric. This prepares future writers and educators to become thoughtful, ethical members of our diverse global community.
Our program features a dynamic curriculum with flexible scheduling options, allowing students to select courses that align with their interests. Faculty expertise spans prison literature, disability studies, global postcolonial works, Shakespeare, Chican/x and Latin/x literature, and digital humanities. Students focusing on rhetoric and composition can explore courses in stylistic analysis, technical writing, and professional communication. The program also offers creative writing classes and hosts workshops with renowned authors each semester.
