The four-year Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Studies program prepares students for all-level music teacher certification in public schools. Alongside rigorous training in music pedagogy, students receive private instruction on their principal instrument, join performing ensembles, and gain thorough knowledge of music theory and history. Music Studies majors also fulfill the university's core academic requirements. This degree program equips graduates with Texas teaching certification, supported by instruction from renowned music educators with prior K-12 teaching experience. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience through fieldwork in Austin-area schools, working with children in their chosen specialization. The curriculum combines instrumental lessons, ensemble participation, and comprehensive music theory and history coursework. Alumni pursue successful careers as music educators across Texas and nationwide.
