The Counselor Education program provides a post-master's certification in School Counseling designed for graduate-level students aiming to obtain Tennessee school counselor licensure. This certification enhances the coursework completed during prior counseling studies. The curriculum meets all Tennessee state standards for school counselor certification. This program accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the certificate program is based on the following:

A. Admission to the Graduate School
B. Admission to the Certificate Program

a. Successful completion of a master's or specialist's degree in counseling or a closely related field, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program.
b. Two letters of recommendation, an updated resume, and an individual interview with a faculty member are required as part of the application process.

2.70 minimum GPA for all undergraduate work taken for the baccalaureate degree or
IELTS - overall minimum score 6.0.
TOEFL IBT - overall minimum score 79.
