The UTC English Department provides minors in literature and creative writing, along with bachelor's degree programs in Creative Writing, Literary Studies, and Rhetoric & Professional Writing. Our curriculum equips students with historical, theoretical, and practical understanding of the cultural and linguistic influences that mold our world. You'll learn to examine both literary and non-literary works while developing your own compelling writing style. UTC's Literary Studies Program emphasizes textual analysis, critical writing, and the study of literary history and theory. Students explore British, American, and global English literature through various critical perspectives, including interdisciplinary studies of childhood development, disability studies, queer theory, African and African-American studies, and gender and sexuality research. Graduates have successfully pursued careers in education, corporate communications, legal fields, publishing, and media relations.
