Students opting for the Language and Literature concentration typically fit into one of two groups -
Those who prefer to take most or all of their classes in German through the German program (courses marked GER), which primarily focus on culture, literature, history, and film. Alternatively, students with scholarly or career interests in language structure, mechanics, and second language learning processes. The Language component of this concentration enables students to select Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition electives from various university departments. Upon declaring this German major concentration, students should consult with the German Program Director to determine which academic path aligns with their interests and future aspirations.
