The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Playwriting & Dramaturgy provides students with comprehensive training to craft numerous theatrical works, including a television pilot and series concept, while receiving personalized mentorship from instructors. Participants acquire hands-on experience in theatrical production, script analysis, and new work development.
Students can see their original pieces fully staged as part of UH's theater program, alongside an annual festival showcasing short plays. They also serve as production dramaturgs for seasonal performances while enrolling in specialized rotating workshops covering genres like Comedy, Realism, and Myth & Ritual.
During their third year, students develop a complete full-length play with D'Amour. For their culminating project, seniors create either another full-length play or a television pilot with accompanying series documentation.
