The Comparative Literature Department provides a combined B.A./M.A. program enabling exceptional undergraduate students to earn both degrees within five years.

During the initial two undergraduate years, students complete University General Education and Liberal Arts requirements alongside language and literature studies in their major. The third year focuses on selecting two primary literature concentrations in different languages while beginning a second foreign language. The fourth year replaces senior-level 400 courses with graduate-level methodology and literature studies. The fifth year primarily involves graduate coursework in Comparative Literature and selected literatures, concluding with an M.A. thesis.

This structured approach fosters deeper specialization starting from the third undergraduate year, helping students refine their focus within global literary studies. Such focused preparation significantly strengthens future doctoral studies at other institutions or advancement toward professional objectives.
