This program centers on building a strong foundation in Russian language, enabling students to thoroughly examine Russia's and the Independent States' culture, history, and modern society. The Russian language and literature major requires 40 credits beyond introductory prerequisites, with all major courses demanding a C grade or higher. Through the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SLLC), students engage with international perspectives across diverse subjects like film, gender studies, literature, and translation. The curriculum blends language acquisition with cultural exploration, complemented by community involvement, career preparation, and overseas study opportunities. You'll develop a global outlook on significant literary and cultural concepts while learning to bridge academic and cultural divides. Our courses prioritize meaningful communication, fostering multilingual proficiency in thought, writing, and speech. Alumni have successfully entered various professions including media, design, legal practice, commerce, environmental studies, and healthcare.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
