Our program features a multidisciplinary approach combining language learning with cultural studies, regional expertise, literary analysis, and linguistic theory, equipping graduates to become engaged global citizens, forward-thinking leaders, and creative problem-solvers in our interconnected society. Mastering foreign languages unlocks cultural understanding, which subsequently leads to greater insight into one's own cultural identity and native tongue. At the University of South Alabama, Spanish serves as a major concentration within the Modern Languages Bachelor of Arts degree, while also being available as a minor. Recognized as one of the UN's six official languages and sharing official status with English in the Organization of American States, Spanish boasts over 350 million speakers globally.
