The Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance provides rigorous performance education at a top-tier liberal arts and research institution.
The classical voice concentration features instruction in opera and art song repertoire, along with vocal coaching from prominent New York performers. Foundational studies encompass music theory, ear training, piano proficiency, and historical music studies. The curriculum incorporates acting, dance, language pronunciation, vocal technique, Alexander Method training, and involvement in musical theater workshops and full productions. Classical Voice students can explore interdisciplinary opportunities by engaging in musical theater activities alongside their core studies. Each Classical Voice student presents both a junior-year and senior-year recital. If you will have completed your country's pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving to NYU, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:
You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma, or
You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission), or
