The LLM in Intellectual Property and Technology Law program provides students with comprehensive legal education and practical training in the heart of the global tech industry. Participants develop expertise in this specialized field while learning directly from experienced practitioners who serve as adjunct faculty. The program attracts candidates from varied professional backgrounds, including legal and scientific disciplines, with many bringing substantial experience in technology-related fields. Applicants must hold a law degree or equivalent qualification, or be licensed to practice law internationally, with patent and trademark professionals particularly welcome. LLM students fully participate alongside JD candidates, fostering exposure to diverse perspectives and networking opportunities beyond the graduate program.
Alongside specialized LLM coursework, students complete required credits in Intellectual Property and Technology Law, with the option to prepare for U.S. Bar Exam eligibility. This full-time, one-year program is based at the Law School's San Francisco campus, conveniently located near major civic and cultural landmarks. The schedule allows students to attend daytime classes while engaging with the city's vibrant professional community through evening events and networking opportunities.
