The Department of Theatre Arts aims to recruit graduate students passionate about both theatrical practice and theoretical exploration. Our ideal candidates are driven by a profound love for performance while deeply contemplating theatre's significance and methodologies. These students possess an insatiable curiosity, not just about techniques but also about theatre's historical context, objectives, and potential. We value applicants who embrace questions rather than definitive answers, finding genuine delight in the creative journey - whether through scholarly research or practical production. Our two-year MA program focuses on academic inquiry, frequently serving as preparation for doctoral studies. The three-year MFA, our terminal degree, prepares students for professional careers or teaching in theatrical production, with specialized tracks available in scenic, costume, and lighting design - including dual concentration options.
